Work at Home Opportunities: What’s Available?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Internet business is booming. Now, more than ever, you can find work at home internet business opportunities that will allow you to make a decent living. It all depends on how well-informed you are.

To save you a little bit of work, this article will outline some of the most common work at home internet business opportunities available. This list includes:

Affiliate programs. No list of work at home internet business opportunities is complete without mentioning affiliate programs. Hundreds of thousands of people now make a full-time living in this burgeoning industry. In an affiliate program, you can earn commissions by selling someone elses product or advertising his or her site. You sign up with a partner company, help them to sell their products, and you get paid when they make a sale. If you plan to make some money here, it is probably best to build your own website. If you do not have the technical knowledge to do so, you can buy some site generators or simply ask someone else to do it.

Online Data Entry. Often, data entry simply requires that you key in some information into forms that your employer will provide. While some training is needed to get started (and often a joining fee), it is nevertheless a simple job. As long as you can find a good employer, this is one of the easier ways to make money over the internet.

Writing. As you can imagine, writing is an important part of the growth of the internet. If you are reasonably literate and learn quickly, you can probably start writing for pay on the internet. There are an unlimited number of topics that you can write on, as well as a number of writing formats that are available. For example, you can choose to write content articles, an e-book, or simply run a blog. For excellent writers, work at home internet business opportunities are never lacking online.

Paid E-mails/Surveys. This is another straightforward work at home internet business opportunity. In paid e-mails, you read e-mails and receive a small fee. With paid surveys, you are asked for your opinion on a variety of subjects; and again you will be paid a small fee for doing so. As in online data entry, most paid e-mails and surveys will come through an intermediary, so you will most likely be charged a joining fee.

Why Stay Here When You Can Outsource Offshore?

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Companies specializing in IT (Information Technology) are increasingly turning to outsourcing their labor to developing countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the MidEast. The reason is reduction of labor costs, which can be as much as 50% lower in these developing regions than in a fully developed nation.

Companies that have specialized in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) have found that their systems lend themselves perfectly to many segments of IT services. These services include the development and testing of software, data entry, data processing and help desk support. The IT company located in the offshore country will hire highly trained and expert professionals who are able to develop software in .NET, Java/J2EE, telecommunications applications, database solutions and smartcard solutions, just to name a few. The engineers and other professionals who perform these duties can either be full time employees of the offshore company, who move from product to product depending on which customers the outsourcing firm has, or they themselves may be hired on a contractual basis.

It is not only large IT companies with sizeable projects that turn to outsourcing as a cost effective solution. Small, individual IT jobs can also be outsourced to an IT professional. India is by far the most popular destination for outsourced IT demand, especially from the United States. In one city in India alone, Bangalore, there are 100,000 workers working on software development, chip manufacturing, computer operating systems, etc. Even though these employees make less than $7 per hour, they are highly trained IT professionals. Outsourcing such as this benefits the economy of the advanced country in cost savings, as well as the economy of the developing country by adding income.

The entire IT industry is a rapidly changing one. Outsourcing companies that deal with IT projects must work at staying on top of all new developments in IT technology. This requires constant training and re-training, sometimes at the headquarters of the company that hired them. Business PRocess Outsourcers make sure to hire their employees from a highly qualified, English fluent labor pool, and maintain and upgrade their training on a constant basis.

In order to compete in a global economy, IT companies must outsource to stay alive. If a company chooses not to outsource for political reasons or supposed loyalty to their country, they are making a grave mistake. They essentially are choosing to take on more expenses then their competitors and in turn may be driven out of business. This is particularly true in slim margin businesses. What would be worse for their country, a company with a certain percent of employees offshore or no company at all?

The 10 Best Home Businesses You Can Start Today

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

If you are just starting to use the internet and are looking to make some money, here are the top 10 home businesses that you might consider.

1. Affiliate programs. In an affiliate program, you mostly act as a middleman between your partner company and the buying public. You will be promoting the goods and services that your partner merchant company sells, and in return you will receive a percentage of the sales you generate. Alternatively, you can also advertise your partner merchant’s site, and will be paid according to the number of people who you can redirect.

2. Paid Surveys. All companies who wish to stay competitive have to conduct market research. The internet allows these companies to conduct these surveys at a reduced cost. If you fit the demographic profile that is required for a particular survey, you may choose to participate and be compensated accordingly. While most paid surveys do not pay much, participating in a bunch of them is a good way to make some extra money.

3. E-mail processing. You will be asked to perform a few tasks concerning an e-mail, or a group of e-mail messages. You will most likely be paid according to the number of e-mails you process. Another easy job that just about anyone can do.

4. Home Data Entry. Home data entry is considered to be a great work-at-home opportunity, and it definitely deserves a spot in the top 10 home businesses. You will be doing mostly clerical work, inputting information that your clients will require. However, this sort of job usually pays well, provided that you can find a good employer.

5. Typing. This is a pretty straightforward job. People who do not have the time or the inclination to type their work may ask you to do it for them. Of course, you will receive a fee for completing such jobs. Considering that this job doesn’t require too much skill from the outset, it could be a great way to earn a little extra cash.

6. Medical Transcription. In medical transcription, you will be asked to type out on paper what doctors have recorded on tape. This particular work-at-home opportunity requires a little bit of training. A basic knowledge of medical jargon is required.

7. Legal Transcription. In legal transcription, you will be asked out to type on paper what lawyers have recorded on tape. Like medical transcription, this requires some training. An understanding of legal terms is often necessary.

8. Online Store. If you have something to sell, you can set up an online store on your website.

9. Call Center Agent. In the booming call center agency, there are many positions that are open to people who can speak English (or any of the major foreign languages) well. As long as you are willing to undergo some training and work at specified hours, you are most likely qualified to work in this growing industry.

10. Miscellaneous Freelance Work. If you have a salable skill that commands a price outside, then it is probably a skill that you can sell online as well.

Employers Find Synergy With Prologistix Placement Program

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

ProLogistix is fortunate to have built a reputation in the communities served as the “go-to” company when seeking a job in a warehouse or distribution center. According to Brian Devine, division vice-president of ProLogistix, “The staffing industry was doing a poor job servicing the logistics industry with talented employees. At ProLogistix, we created the most comprehensive application process for logistics employees in the industry. We use our selection process to evaluate a candidate’s specific knowledge and experience, and we then match qualifications to the positions for which we are recruiting. The combination of an exclusive focus on logistics, screening tools utilized in the application process, and the experience of branch staff makes ProLogistix the leading provider of logistics talent in the country.”

Unlike other staffing organizations, 100% of ProLogistix recruiting efforts are centered around logistics. Branch staff is trained in logistics, and they understand the intricacies of the industry. Staff is not spending time testing and interviewing bookkeepers, data entry clerks, and construction workers.

ResourceMFG, the sister division to ProLogistix places manufacturing specific positions. Devine explained the differentiation between the two organization by noting, “The way we differentiate between which clients are best served by ResourceMFG or ProLogistix is to ask what the company does. If they manufacture products, then they are best suited to ResourceMFG; if they distribute products, then ProLogistix is the right staff solution.”

The types of positions ProLogistix fills include:

• Loaders and Unloaders

• Order Selectors

• Warehouse Associates

• Shipping and Receiving

• Forklift Operators

• Quality Assurance

• Supervisors

• Warehouse Managers

• Operations Manager
